What Market Leading Should Mean for a Business Phone System
A business phone system has one job that matters more than all the others: when a customer rings, the right person, or the right answer, picks up. Everything else is in service of that. So a provider that genuinely leads should be ahead on the things that make that happen reliably, for an ordinary Australian business, without an IT department. If you want the full picture of what the Uniden Voice business phone system includes, that page lists it. This article is about the evidence.
We do not publish market share figures, and you should be wary of any phone provider that leans on one without saying who measured it and how. What follows are measures you can test, and for each one we link to where you can see the evidence rather than take our word for it. If you are still working out what a business phone system actually is, start with our plain English guide and come back.
The Scorecard: Seven Measures
| Measure | Why it matters to a business owner | The evidence for Uniden Voice |
|---|---|---|
| 1. One vendor, end to end | When a call fails, one party owns the fix, not three blaming each other. | Uniden desk phones, the apps, the service and the support come from the one vendor. |
| 2. Try before you talk | You can see whether your team will actually use it. | Working demos of the desktop and mobile apps run in your browser, no sign up. |
| 3. AI that does the work | Missed calls are lost customers; written up calls save hours. | AI Agents answer and book; calls can be recorded, transcribed and summarised. |
| 4. Australian, end to end | Local support, local hosting, Australian call handling expectations. | Designed, built, hosted and supported in Australia. |
| 5. Named customers | A real business like yours can tell you how it went. | Published case studies from OSA and Coco's Wealth of Health, plus national brands on our customer wall. |
| 6. Public proof | Reviews and audience you can check without asking us. | 4.6 on Google at the time of writing; Shorts with millions of views. |
| 7. Published pricing | You can budget before anyone calls you back. | From $84.90 a month for three users on a 36 month term, free setup and number porting. |

One Vendor, From the Desk Phone to the App
Most business phone systems are assembled: a handset from one manufacturer, service from a reseller, a network from somebody else. When something breaks, the business owner becomes the project manager.
Uniden has been a name in Australian homes and businesses since 1966, and with Uniden Voice the hardware, the software and the support all come from the one vendor. The Uniden EVOC2 desk phone ($249) arrives already provisioned for your account and sets itself up over Wi-Fi or a network cable, so there is no PBX to mount and no technician to book. A single user setup ships as one box: the handset, the apps, three months of plan subscription and your number brought across.
You do not have to buy a desk phone
The free apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android run the same business number, so many businesses start on the apps and add handsets for reception later.
Apps You Can Try Before You Talk to Anyone
The most reliable predictor of whether a phone system works for your business is whether your team will actually use the apps. Screenshots do not tell you that. So we built working demos you can click through in your browser with a sample business, sample people and sample numbers: the desktop app, with calls, AI summaries, team chat, business SMS, meetings and tasks in one window, and the mobile app, with your business number on your own phone.
Make a test call, open a call summary, send a chat. Nothing you type leaves your browser, and five minutes there will tell you more than a sales call.
AI That Answers, Books and Writes Up the Call
Most small businesses do not lose work because their phone system lacks a feature. They lose it in the gaps: lunch, site visits, after five, the school run, the week someone is away. A caller who reaches voicemail often rings the next business on the list.
Uniden Voice AI Agents fill those gaps. An agent picks up on the first ring, answers the question, books the job into the calendar, texts the customer a confirmation and writes the whole call up, including on public holidays. On the human side, calls can be recorded, transcribed and summarised, so the next person to pick up the thread starts with the context rather than an empty notepad.
Built, Hosted and Supported in Australia
Uniden Voice is designed, built, hosted and supported in Australia. Support comes from people in Australia, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm AEST, on 1300 881 662. Recordings, transcripts and customer details stay onshore, which health, legal, government and NDIS work increasingly require. And it is built around how Australian businesses trade, from 1300 and 1800 numbers to business NBN on the same bill. Our note on Australian infrastructure goes into the detail.
Who Runs Their Business on It
Our customer wall includes national names such as Harvey Norman Business Hub, Ampol, Gold's Gym, the Y and Ray White, alongside trades, clinics, schools, cafes and retailers. Two customers have told their stories in full.
Optical Solutions Australia, a Hexatronic Group company, had five branches across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Perth running five separate legacy PBXs that could not transfer a caller between states. They moved to one Uniden Voice platform and retired all five.
"We spend our days helping customers build networks that connect the whole country, so it never sat right that our own five sites could not put a caller through to each other. One platform changed that overnight."
Mike Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, Optical Solutions Australia, a Hexatronic Group company
Coco's Wealth of Health, an organic health food store in Maroubra, runs every customer call and phone order from one business number, from the shop floor, the back office or the road.
"Uniden gives me the flexibility to work remotely. On the road I can make and take calls and dial out as the shop, not my mobile. I highly recommend it, especially for small business."
Marie-Claire "Coco", Owner, Coco's Wealth of Health

Public Proof You Can Check Yourself
Two kinds of proof do not depend on us at all. First, reviews: at the time of writing, Uniden Voice Over Cloud holds a 4.6 star rating on Google from 46 reviews, and a selection of five star reviews now appears on our home page, pulled straight from Google. Second, audience: our YouTube Shorts on business phones and AI answering have passed millions of views. Neither is a market share figure, but both are public, both are current, and you can look them up without asking us.
We are also a proud sponsor of Jack Westbury Racing, whose #29 Uniden Ute finished inside the top five in Sunday's Race 4 at Bathurst 2026. It says nothing about call quality, but it does say we are here and backing Australian talent.
Published Pricing, Not a Quote Ritual
A leading business phone system should let you budget before anyone calls you back. Uniden Voice plans start from $84.90 a month for three users on a 36 month term, with every feature at one per user rate, free setup and free number porting. Business NBN can sit on the same bill. For the whole cost of ownership, see our business phone system cost guide.
What is in the plan, not on a price list
Voicemail to email, time conditions, call queuing, IVR menus, ring groups, reporting, and HD video meetings for up to 30 people are part of the plan. The system scales from one user to more than a thousand.
Where Something Else May Suit You Better
Two situations where we would say so plainly:
A large rostered contact centre. If most of your people sit in queues, are scheduled against forecast demand and are measured on service level, you need contact centre capability, and the decision is about queues rather than phones. Our guide to UCaaS versus CCaaS sets out where the line sits. Many businesses only need it on a handful of seats.
A business that has standardised every call on another collaboration suite. If your whole organisation lives inside one vendor's meetings and chat, and changing that is not on the table, the conversation is about how calls connect into it rather than replacing it. Talk to us before you assume either way.
How to Check Any Provider, Including Us
Whoever you shortlist, ask each for the same evidence on the seven measures above, in writing. Our companion guide lists the questions to ask before you sign. A provider that genuinely leads will answer all of them without a pause.
